When should you test for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency?

Episode 3 of 3 with Dr Møller. Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency is often overlooked and it is estimated that only 10 % of all Danes with the disease have been diagnosed. Why is this happening? Many patients diagnosed with asthma or COPD are treated by general practitioners for their disease, some of them with poor results. Some might suffer from Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency instead even if their symptoms resemble asthma or COPD. This is why Dr Helene MØLLER Frost encourages general practitioners to take a simple blood test for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency on patients below the age of 60 with astma or COPD.

This is what Dr Helene Møller Frost, at the Department of Pulmonary Medicine at Aalborg University Hospital explains in this episode of A1R Time.

The video is the third of a total of three videos with Helene Møller Frost about Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

A1R TIME is initiated by CSL Behring. Our goal is to spread awareness about Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and to create a community for all affected by the diagnosis.
